The Collingwood, Blue Mountain and Area Bed & Breakfast Association welcome you to visit our homes and enjoy the surroundings which we have the privilege of enjoying everyday.
Collingwood, Blue Mountain and Area have become the ‘playground’ for many Ontarians and Overseas guests. Just 2 hours north of Toronto and nestled on the southern shores of Georgian Bay the historical and picturesque towns of Collingwood, Thornbury, Meaford and Wasaga Beach offer the visitor many choices throughout the four seasons of the year.
The Village at Blue Mountain has become an icon on the Georgian Bay Coastal Route. Here the many shops, indoor & outdoor restaurants will surprise you, nestled at the bottom of the ski slopes. The Aqua Plunge pool, located in the Village caters to many families and has an indoor-outdoor swimming pool but also hot pools to enjoy. The Village Plaza hosts many activities throughout the year including the famous chilli cook-off, art shows, face painting, movies under the stars, special musical attractions, firework displays and at the end of July, the famous international Elvis Festival!
Throughout the winter season, the slopes of Blue Mountain allow the sports enthusiast a myriad of challenges. Skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, dog sledding, horse-drawn sleigh rides and tobogganing are all available. The three cross country Nordic Centres allow one to enjoy nature at its finest.
In the summer Georgian Bay offers the visitor many beaching opportunities, including Wasaga Beach, the longest ‘ fresh water beach’ in the world. Enjoy cycling along the many bike trails surrounding Collingwood or take the Georgian Trail, which runs adjacent to the Bay to picturesque Thornbury and Meaford. Mountain biking on the slopes of Blue Mountain offers many challenges both for the beginner to the expert. The Bruce Hiking Trail runs through the area and has many different paths to explore. The Beaver River, which runs into Georgian Bay, allows the kayaker or canoeist another adventure. Golf courses in the area abound and will keep the best golfer challenged.
The Eco-Adventure & Scenic Caves is another major attraction in the area and gives spectacular views of Georgian Bay from its magnificent bridge. Explore the caves after ‘zip lining’ from the canopy walk or relax with a picnic in the park.
In close proximity to Blue Mountain is ‘Le Scandinave’. This ‘outdoor spa’ lends itself to peace and tranquility with hot and cold pools, a large steam room and sauna room.
Indoor relaxation rooms are provided in the winter or one can take the sun’s rays outside in the summer. Qualified masseuses can be booked directly through the spa but reservations are recommended.
Theatre and Summer Festivals continue throughout Georgian Bay and museums in the surrounding towns attest to the life that has gone before. Our art galleries speak of the amazing talent in the area and the town of Clarksburg has become known as “Artsburg” due to its thriving art community.
The grain elevators in Collingwood once served the Great Lakes and have now become a historic site, being one of the only structures of its kind to survive. Many shops, restaurants, theatre, library and historic homes grace this old Ontario town and a vibrant community exists.
Sunset boat cruises and fishing charters conducted by “SummerBound” can be taken on Georgian Bay from Collingwood Harbour. If a Casino is more to your taste, the town of Orillia hosts ‘Casino Rama’ an hour’s
drive from Collingwood.
