In the seventeenth issue of the Bed and Breakfast Traveller, we take you to Kitchener Waterloo region, Ontario, whose exciting cultural, historial and recreational attractions enjoy worldwide reknown.

Special events and festivals like the Elmira Maple Syrup Festival, the Waterloo County and Area Quilt Festival and North America's largest Bavarian Festival, "Oktoberfest", are just a few of many exciting tourism experiences in the Kitchener and Waterloo region.

If you enjoy art galleries, theatre, and music, you won't want to miss the many theatrical and musical productions presented throughout the year. We are also just forty minutes away from the famous Stratford Festival.

For those who love to shop, our farmers' markets, antique shops, outlet malls, the village of St. Jacobs will keep you busy sourcing good quality and value. Our restaurants and accommodations represent a variety of choices with competitive pricing.

Our rural villages feature the best of the picturesque countryside, unique examples of historic buildings, Ontario's last covered bridge. See members of our Mennonite community drive by in their horse-drawn buggies.

Tour in horse-drawn buggies, golf, canoe and camp-experience our many outdoor activities on the Grand River (a Canadian Heritage River).

Sound- stop, listen, and enjoy.
-Listen to accomplished musicians in an outdoor setting or our acoustically-acclaimed Centre In The Square. Hear classical music, choral groups, jazz, new country, pop, and marching bands.

Taste- the flavours.
Great tastes are found here- rural country food, Bavarian specialties and fine dining. Purchase fresh produce from our many farmers' markets. Sample our craft brewery products, visit our new cider mill and local wineries.

Oct 1-14: Colours of Art Show and Sale. Held at the Waterloo Community Arts Center. For times and cost call 1-519-886-4577.

October 5-13: Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest. North America's largest Bavarian Festival. Features the Oktoberfest Parade, King Ludwig's Castle Museum, a free pork roast on Saturday October 6th, etc.

October 6-8: Traditional Thanksgiving, held at Woodside National Historic Site. Tour through an 1890s home decorated for Thanksgiving.

October 8: Thanksgiving Day Parade. Held in uptown Waterloo. Starts at 8:45 am. For more information, go to www.oktoberfest.ca.

October 10: Jesse Cook/ Natalie McMaster performance in The Center In the Square. Call 1-800-265-8977.

October 19-20: Cider Spirit Walk, held at Victoria Park Forest Trail, Cambridge. Spirits of the past come to life under the stars and lantern lights. Starts at 6:30 PM. Adults $10, children under 12 $5. Call 1-800-265-6959.

October 22: Diana Krall in concert at the Centre In The Square. Call 1-800-265-8977.

November 10: Jakobstettel Country Christmas Craft Show. Held in St. Jacobs. A day full of Christmas treats. For more info call 1-519-664-3869.
