Come back to Stratford in the fall! Warm days and cool nights will embrace you as you stroll through this expansive park setting or soak in the heritage. With over 1,000 acres of groomed parkland, warm autumn colours set the city in a golden glow. The harvest bounty can first be enjoyed as you travel through the rich agriculturalsurroundings of Perth County and later as you dine on the bounty in exceptional restaurants.

The Stratford Festival of Canada is celebrating its 50th season of world-class theatre with four distinct theatres to capture your imagination. Take in Shakespearean drama and history, new works and frolicking musicals. Enhance the drama by exploring backstage at the Festival Theatre or the costume warehouse on a tour. The season has been extended to November 24, 2002. www.stratfordfestival.ca

Spend "A day in the garden" on September 7 visiting designer gardens, sampling food and wine, participating in demonstrations and events. Dragon Boat races encompass Lake Victoria on September 14 and 15 with over 100 teams stroking to the steady beat of the drum to the finish line.

Outdoors, explore the Ontario Maze, just north of Stratford, where you will discover countries hidden along the tricky passageways through the world's largest corn/mixed grain maze. Pick up a "Take a Hike" booklet from the Visitors' Information Centre, your guide to walking, cycling and skiing trails throughout Perth County. Meander in the T. J. Dolan Natural Area or take a walk along the banks of the Avon River where Art in the Park is exhibited and graceful swans graze at the water's edge. Pack your clubs for a round of golf. Maybe you prefer sampling the bounty of the harvest at McCully's Hill Farm where you can slow the pace on a horse drawn wagon ride through the farm's woodlot.

The International Women's Festival will make its debut in Stratford with amazing speakers, workshops and an incredible marketplace October 3 - 6, 2002. Get in touch with the wise and wondrous woman within. Visit www.internationalwomensfestival.com. View The Quilt Project, 199 beautiful quilts on display in Stratford until the end of October, or plan to attend the auction of these quilts on November 16 where proceeds go to Breast Cancer support. Exhibitions at the Stratford-Perth Museum explore the Underground Railway. Painting, embroidery and tapestries are on display at Gallery Stratford. Visit the many independent shops throughout the city. An Antique Warehouse, book shops, gifts shops and galleries offer variety you will not want to miss.

Culinary, quilts and books are the focus of three themed weekends in November. Visit www.4seasonsstratford.com for detailed information. Packages are available by calling 1-800-461-8500.
