The Bed and Breakfast E-Traveller

Edition 56: November 24, 2005

In the 56th issue of the Bed and Breakfast E-Traveller, we bring you to Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON, the perfect location to celebrate the fall and winter seasons.

One thinks of Niagara-on-the-Lake as a historic, beautiful and cultural destination, surrounded by wonderful wines and some great area golf courses, not to mention great restaurants and interesting shopping. Niagara-on-the-Lake has been designated as World Heritage Community by UNESCO. Niagara-on-the-Lake also supports an "Excellence in Service" initiative and many of our better B&Bs have taken this course.

And, of course, it's not far from the glitz and magnificence of Niagara Falls.

Snowy DayOur moderate climate means that fall colours are just turning in mid-October. The annual Candlelight Stroll on the first Friday of December attracts thousands of local people and visitors alike, kicking off the Holiday Season. Carolers and choirs entertain strolling visitors who carry candles in support of local charities. In January, there is a ice wine festival, which is a high point the first month of the year.

Only the Shaw Festival and the golf courses are closed! Shopping, restaurants, wine-tasting, cultural and historic possibilities still abound. And there are special events happening throughout this period.

Niagara-on-the-Lake boasts a wide selection of accommodation, featuring some excellent bed and breakfast homes and inns. Make sure to reserve in advance by making early reservations.
